The History of Marigolds

Marigolds are native to the Americas and have played an important ceremonial role in Mexico since pre-Columbian times, beginning with the Nahua people, who believed the blooms were a gift from the sun god.

More than 350 years ago, Spanish and Portuguese traders introduced marigolds to India, where they became a symbol of celebration. Today, marigolds are widely used in Diwali, weddings, and religious festivals across the continent.
